EARL R. LEARY, 77, OF POTTSTOWN Earl R. Leary, 77, of Sanatoga Ridge, Pottstown, passed away Thursday, February 27, 2014 at Pottstown Memorial Medical Center, Pottstown, PA. Born October 27, 1936 in Pottstown, PA, he was the son of the late Earl F. and Emma E. Leary. Earl was the husband of Joyce M. (Evans) Moyer Leary. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Anna R. (Frey) Leary, who died in 2003. Earl was a switchman technician, working at Bell Telephone of PA for 38 years, retiring in 1995.

He had many hobbies and talents. Earl was an accomplished musician having played the banjo, dulcimer, organ, piano, guitar and the upright bass. He really enjoyed working with his hands spending many years blacksmithing, woodworking and tinsmithing. Earl was an Anglophile, having a great love of England and was also fond of antique cars and steam engines. He also enjoyed traveling and especially working with old tools. Earl was a 1954 graduate of North Coventry High School. He was a member of Trinity Evangelical Congregational Church, Boyertown. Earl belonged to the Goshenhoppen Historical Society, East Greenville, PA and the Kinzer Rough and Tumble Steam Engine Association, Kinzer, PA.

In addition to his wife, Joyce, Earl is survived by his four children, Susan (Leary), wife of Patrick Podoletz, Holidaysburg, PA, James E., husband of Mary A. (King) Leary, Boyertown, PA, William R., husband of Nita (Sabido) Leary, Allentown, PA and Timothy P., husband of Wendy M. (Myers) Leary, West Chester, PA. He is survived by 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services for Earl will be held Sunday, March 2, 2014, at 2:30 p.m. at Trinity Evangelical Congregational Church, 250 Sweinhart Road, Boyertown, PA with the Pastor John Friedlund and Pastor Donald McHenry officiating. A visitation will be held from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. at the church. Interment in St. Michael's Church Cemetery will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Earl's memory to the American Diabetes Association , PO Box 11454, Alexandria, VA, 22312, or to Trinity Evangelical Congregational Church, 250 Sweinhart Road, Boyertown, PA 19512.
