Otis Astle Otis A. Astle, 88, of Quarryville, formerly of Oxford, went home to be with our Lord, Sunday, February 28, 2010 at the Lancaster General Hospital. He was the husband of Frances E. Jackson Astle with whom he shared 57 years of marriage. Born on October 30, 1921, he was the son of the late Arthur A. and Eleanor J. Grubb Astle. He was a farmer in Lower Oxford Township for most of his life. Otis was a member of the Rough & Tumble Historic Steam Engine Assoc. in Kinzers, the Russellville Grange, and the Farm & Home Historic Assoc. He was also a member of the Oxford Methodist Church in Oxford.

He enjoyed square dancing, collecting and restoring antique tractors and traveling with his wife and friends on bus trips. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his devoted daughter, Allegra Estrada and her husband, John, and devoted son, Charles Astle and his wife, Dina; also, two sons, Otis, Jr., Arthur and step-daughter, Beverly Chapman; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He has a brother, Norman Astle and his wife, Helen of Port Deposit, MD and sister, Mary Witmer and her husband, Charles of Quarryville.

A funeral service will be held at 12 noon on Friday, March 5, 2010 at the Cherry Hill Methodist Church, 33 Elks Mill Rd., Elkton, MD. Family and friends may call after 10 a.m. until 12 noon at the church. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Due Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Arrangements are being handled by the Edward L. Collins Funeral Home, Inc., Oxford, PA.
