Aaron B. Stauffer (from Orlen Stauffer) - I want to inform the club that my Dad, Aaron B. Stauffer passed away on Sunday, April 25 at 9:30 AM at the Fairmount Home near Ephrata. His obituary was in the Monday morning paper. He is the brother of Phares and Amos B. Stauffer and exhibited his 1937 John Deere "B" by which he's best known as "inventing" the added road gears. A book about him had been on sale in the R & T Gift Shop. He also exhibited a quarter-scale Case traction engine. 

Aaron B. Stauffer, 93, of 333 Wheat Ridge Drive, Ephrata, formerly of 134 Voganville Road, New Holland, died Sunday, April 25, 2010 at Fairmount Homes. He was preceded in death by his wife, Stella W. (Sensenig) Stauffer in 2000.

He was born in Snyder County, PA on September 10, 1916 and from early boyhood grew up on a farm east of Ephrata, PA. Aaron was a member of the Blue Ball Church of the Brethren. He was employed most recently by Rutt Kitchens from which he retired in 1986. 

Surviving are six children: Grace S. Zimmerman (J. Clair), Mohnton; Lillian S. Zimmerman (Leroy L.), Leola; Joyce E. Weaver (Richard G.), Denver; John L. Stauffer (June Rutt), New Holland; Orlen R. Stauffer (Linda Adkins), Portsmouth, VA; and Susan E. Cox (William J. III), Manheim; 14 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, 2 sisters: Mary Stauffer (Horace R.), and Catherine Stauffer; and one brother: Eli B. (Ruth). Preceding him in death were an infant daughter, Lois Ann; sisters; Emma Zimmerman; Elizabeth Sensenig; Lydia Bowman; Susie Stauffer, and three brothers; Daniel B.; Amos B.; and Phares B. 

Next to God and family, he loved telling stories of his threshing days and tinkering with his steam engine and the John Deere tractor he bought in 1937. Aaron Stauffer left his descendants a strong work ethic, a heart to serve others, and a simple and devoted faith in Christ.
