(Fisher) Frantz, 70, of Hellam, entered into eternal rest with our Lord and Savior on Wed. March 18, 2009 at York Hospital with her loved ones gathered by her side. She was a devoted and loving wife to her husband of 53 years, Lewis Frantz Jr. The two shared many happy years together working side by side raising a family and building a good life together. Born on August 25, 1938 in York, she was the daughter of the late Allen and Jennie (Shaffer) Fisher. Joy was employed for 24 years at the former McCrory Distribution Center of York. She also worked for 3 years at Berg Electronics, formerly of Emigsville. She then retired after 10 years of service at New Concept of York. She was an active member of the Rough and Tumble Historical Steam Engine Society in Kinzers, Pa. She was the admissions chairperson, in charge of the annual banquet and helped wherever she was needed. For all her hard work and dedication, Joy was the first lady to be presented with the Presidents Trophy. She was also a member of the Early American Steam Engine Society of Windsor and of the Hershey Antique Automobile Club of America. In addition to her husband, left to cherish her memory are three daughters, Linda Cunningham and husband, Scott of Shrewsbury; Darlene Hess, Luann Cook and husband, Barry of Hellam; A son, Jeffery Frantz and wife, Cristine of Windsor. Six Grandchildren - Aaron Cunningham, Joel Cunningham, Jessica Hess, Jeffery Frantz II and companion Abbie Aughenbaugh, Jesse Frantz and wife Sara and Joshua Frantz. Sister-in-law, Marie Rentzel and husband Bob. And her beloved puppy, "Rufus". She was preceded in death by a sister, Mildred "Tootie" Sipe; two brothers, Harry Fisher and Allen Fisher. Joy had a wonderful zest for life. She was a vivacious woman of strength, beauty and courage. She promenaded through life gracefully and selflessly giving immeasurably of herself and everyone she met. Her love for life and family radiated from every smile and when she laughed, it was a great place to be. There will be no viewing, however friends are invited to join the family in a service honoring her life on Saturday, March 21, 2009 at 10:00am at St. Joseph Church, 2935 Kingston Road, York, PA 17402. Burial will follow at the Kreutz Creek Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the York Cancer Center Patient Help Fund, 25 Monument Rd. Suite 194, York, Pa. 17403.
