June 13 - 14, 2008 Admission is FREE! Blacksmiths Converge in Kinzers NOTE: THE FOLLOWING IS THE 2007 PROGRAM. THE 2008 PROGRAM WILL BE POSTED AS SOON AS IT IS AVAILABLE. The main event of the two days is a competition by six blacksmiths who are each forging an item from a predetermined materials list. A sample of each item will be available for inspection while the smith works on his or her project. The public is invited to purchase raffle tickets at $1 each to vote on their favorite blacksmith. The winner will be the blacksmith with the most tickets in his or her raffle ticket can. At the end of the competition on Saturday at 4 p.m. one raffle ticket will be pulled from each can, and that winner can choose between the corresponding item that was made during Blacksmith Days or the sample item. Each blacksmith has three hours to complete his or her project. On Friday, blacksmith Kelly Smyth of Glen Mills will forge her competition item from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. at the blacksmith shop on the grounds.
