Photo Album - 2005 Time of Harvest
Rough and Tumble's 2005 Time of Harvest was decimated by a very rainy weekend. While the event was cancelled, those who came anyway did have an opportunity to see several indoor exhibits and participate in some kids activities. Louie and Joy Frantz had spent long hours preparing and setting up a variety of outdoor games for kids, most of which were never used. We only have 31 photos posted covering a variety of activities (and non-activities). Many thanks to Bill Glenn for contributing some photos for this album.

General Scenes - Here are photos of a variety of scenes and activities that were observed at this year's Time of Harvest.
- A few visitors wandered in even though the event was rained out
- Bill Glenn on the D2 with umbrella pulls
R&T's 1886 Scheidler back to cover in the Tractor Building
- The Shay Railroad crew considers whether or not to fire up the engine
- Grant Huddle works on Little Toot
- It was truly a soggy day
- A J Hamilton was determined to fire up his twin-cylinder Frick, rain or shine
- During a "bright" moment, Megan Glenn takes
Paul Stoltzfoos's Advance Rumely for a spin
- Megan has a good view of the grounds while operating the Advance Rumely
- Ivan Zimmerman, in the straw hat, operates the saw mill
- Nevin Brubaker tries his hand operating the saw mill
- A volunteer gets ready to receive the two boards coming from the saw blade
- Scrap and bark is generally cut to small pieces for kindling
- Andrea Glenn operated the Goodson engine that was powering
the saw mill while Josh Nace and John Johnson (with umbrella) look on
- In the new Lillibridge building, Dick Leverault (left) and John Rex work on installing a 12hp M.A.N. A.G. model DM-12 diesel engine originally installed in Landsburg, Germany in 1910.
- The engine's flywheel will be mounted soon. The engine weighs 6,600 lbs
and its single cylinder displaces 556 ci.
- A 40 hp Foos gas engine (green) and an Otto gas engine (red)
were recently installed in the Lillibridge Building
- A close-up view of the Foos engine.
- A close-up view of the Otto engine.
- Bob Campbell (left), Bill Hazzard (center), and Brian Mann work to get this "Oilwell" engine started
- The Harvesting Equipment Bldg was used for children's games
originally planned for several areas of the grounds
- While not many children were in attendance, those that were
enjoyed pumpkin painting among other games
- An abbreviated indoor pedal pull was organized
- Rick Wood calls the action on the bull-horn while this young
man pulls the sled
- This young lady managed a full pull. The building's gravel floor
was not too good for traction.
- The big tractor pulls have a "pull-back" tractor to pull the sled back to the
starting area. In this case, we had a young man who took responsibility for
returning the pedal tractor to the starting line.
- Suzie Gouge ran the rope-making activity. The kids enjoyed
making rope using different color strands of twine.
- The ring-toss activity took place among the reapers stored in one corner of the buildling.
- Joy Frantz and another visitor fill out some last minute tickets
for the Waterloo Boys' raffle tractor
- George Harris spins the drum containing thousands of tickets sold over the year
- Brady Hill draws the first ticket while his dad Steve looks on
- At the end of the day, the Glenns pack up their Cat D2 and head home
Tips on viewing Photo Albums
Since our album for Day 3 of Steam School 2000, we have been using a "load ahead" feature in our photo albums.
If you use the "Next Photo" link at the top right corner of each photo, then it will pay you to continue looking at the current photo until the activity display at the bottom of your browser indicates the browser is done loading images. Then, when you click "Next Photo", it will appear almost immediately, and the browser will start loading the next sequential image. To put it simply, wait for the browser to complete loading images before clicking the "Next Photo" button.
