Demonstrations ("The Playground") - A new feature at this year's Reunion was the Demonstration Area set up primarily so the featured Caterpillar tractors could demonstrate their earth moving capabilities. In fact, several non-Caterpillar exhibitors took advantage of the opportunity to "play" in the dirt.
Shovels and Excavators - This year we had two shovels and an excavator digging holes and filling them up again.
Tractor Games - An event that is always popular is the Tractor Games. Here we have a few photos of the gas tractor games.
Threshing - We have a few photos of this year's threshing activities. For a more comprehensive photo album on the threshing demonstrations, look at the albums for prior years Threshermen's Reunions
Tractor Pull - One of the most popular events is the tractor pull, where antique tractors have to use their power to pull a progressivly more resistant sled down a track.
General Scenes - It's hard to take photos of any Rough and Tumble event and not come up with photos of general interest that may not fit in any particular category. This year we have included in this category photos of the saw mill, the kids' pedal pull, and many other activities at this year's Threshermen's Reunion.
- R&T's saw mill always draws a crowd
- While the saw mill is generally powered by a steam traction
engine, this CAT took a turn during the Reunion
- Butch Biesecker adjusts one of the saw mill's auxiliary steam engines
- The next board to come off this log will soon be stacked with others
- Ivan Zimmerman controls the Frick saw mill's cut
- A stack of cut lumber is available for various R&T projects
- Rough and Tumble's 2004 Board of Directors posed for
their annual portrait by a big CAT
- The Shay RR took thousands of visitors for a ride
around the grounds during the Reunion
- The Little Toot builds steam prior to a day of
taking kids, young and old, for a ride
- There is often at least one string instrument at to be heard
by the Little Toot's station
- It took more than a little rain to keep visitors off of the Little Toot
- Rick Woods gets a pedal puller off to a good start
- This young lady seems to have started off without the sled
- You can tell by the faces in the crowd that this is a very popular event
- Sometimes the pedals get slippery
- This fellow is determined to make a full pull
- The Stationary Steam Museum is a great place to look at
huge engines up close
- Visitors especially enjoy seeing these engines operating
- This 1900 Hoisting Engine by American Hoist and Derrick is
described in detail in our 2003 Spring Steam-Up album
- A 1952 Shaw Du-All Model R8 is ready to go to work
- A sickle bar mower is front-mounted on this garden tractor
- Many of the small gas engines at the Reunion are powering small
garden tractors. Gravely, like the one shown here, will be a featured tractor
at the 2005 Reunion
- Stuart Nicoll's 1916 Fuller & Johnson "Multimotor"
hit & miss engine powers a water pump
- At any time of day, there is always a group of visitors in the
Blacksmith Shop watching a blacksmith in action
- The Blacksmith Shop's new facilities are much better suited
to demonstrating blacksmith techniques
- This scale model CAT 60 arrived in a pickup truck, and...
- ...went on display complete with operator
- Eli King's working model Fairbanks Morse is powered by a hit & miss engine
- Daniel Kehr's 1/2 scale CAT D2 and 1/2 scale John Deere
plow were a big hit
- As they did in 2003, the Civil Air Patrol did a terrific job
of directing traffic to and from several parking areas
- Gary Tetz sets up his early 1900 Good Roads Machinery Co.
horse drawn jaw crusher and screen.
- The complete setup, ready to go and looking like new
- Gary provided this description and history of the crusher and screen
- Willard Adams, who was in charge of the tractor exhibits and coordinated
with the ACMOC, stops on his ATV to speak with Norman Gay driving
his Jeep and passenger Greg Bechtold Jr
- Greg Bechtold Jr gets ready to pull the 1914 Keystone Driller Co.
Model 3 Excavator out to the demonstration area ("playground")
- R&T President Louie Frantz stops to catch up with wife Joy,
both of whom worked tirelessly to make this a great Reunion
- Bill and Kathy Hazzard urge their 3 year old
Newfoundland "Bear" onto an antique treadmill
- Bear seemed to enjoy powering the antique
butter churn via the treadmill
- A "wall of tires" defines this line of closely packed tractors
- A young man tries to catch a bubble from this hit & miss
engine powered bubble blower
- Mike Torowus brought his 1929 Ford Model A
modified dump truck from Pitman, NJ
- The bed of Mike's Model A dump truck
- A Stanley Steamer shows off its power source
- The driver's view of the Stanley Steamer's controls

available for purchase
- Painted saw blades were popular at this year's Flea Market
- This vendor had quite an assortment of Allis-Chalmers for sale
- A view looking back towards the main grounds from the demonstration area
- I'd guess this is Grandfather and Grandson leaving the demonstration area
- R&T's Rumely Museum includes beautifully restored harvesting
equipment in addition to Oil Pull tractors
- A bright red McCormick seems to have swollowed a John Deere
- Dressed for the occasion, Kathy and Bill Hazzard pose
by one of their engines
- Jonathan Werning takes an unusual approach to motivate
R&T's Baker to get moving
- Christopher Jones does not let a little rain keep him from
photographing an intriguing hit and miss engine and pump exhibit. Dad holds the umbrella.
- Christopher Jones not only saw his first steam traction engine,
but got a ride as well courtesy of Jeff Doucett on the Advance Rumely
- We have to admit, it did rain a bit at this year's Reunion.
One of the food stands did quite a business on Saturday during the downpour.
- A steam traction engine powers the saw mill
- This terracer may look rusty, but it sure looks functional, too.
- While a tent was provided for visitors from the neighboring
Amish community, some chose to park their rigs at the upper gate.
- The family dog is quite content to tour the grounds on the family Mogul.
- Do you think this little guy is happy?
