Notes: Built by York Manufacturing Co., York, PA, it compressed low pressure ammonia vapor for the purpose of refrigeration. The engine was installed in 1926 at Kunzler & Co., Lancaster, PA for refrigerating and freezing of their meat products. It was used for 42 years and then replaced by electric motor driven compressors in 1968. The compressor is gift to the Rough and Tumble Museum by Kunzler & Co. in 1972. |
