General Scenes - Exhibitors and visitors were blessed with good weather for this year's event. Here are some general scenes.
Steam Traction Engines - Time of Harvest is a last chance for the steam engine crowd to fire their boilers and have some fun before draining them and putting them away for the winter months. It's also a great opportunity for visitors to get up close and personal with these engines, not to mention get photos and rides on these machines.
Harvesting Demonstration - Time of Harvest is your chance to see corn harvested using a variety of early technologies.

The Shay Railroads' New Ash Pit - Last May 2003 a new ash pit was built for the Shay (Click here for photos of its construction.) Here are some photos showing the Shay dumping its ashes in the new pit.

Getting Under Little Toot - Little Toot's recently rebuilt engine (click here for the story of the rebuilding) needed some final tuning of its timing mechanism. The Little Toot Committee had a novel way of getting the engine "up on a lift".

Changing a Tire - Dave Kroa, the R&T Chaplain, wanted to put rubber tires on his 1909 Frick 8x10 steam traction engine. It turned out to be a very difficult project, especially on the first wheel, and we have the story in pictures here.

Parade of Power - The Parade of Power is always a highlight, as visitors can sit in comfort and watch a wide variety of gas and steam engines parade before them.

Steam Tractor Pull - Always a hit, the Steam Tractor Pull is an opportunity to see these giant iron horses work, instead of simply "idling" around the grounds.

Blacksmith Shop - The greatly enhanced Blacksmith Shop was a hit. Visitors can now sit comfortably and watch a blacksmith do his magic from close range. In addition, the Blacksmith Shop generally raffles a piece of work and did so at this event.

Waterloo Boys' Raffle - The Waterloo Boys Two Cylinder Club of Southeastern Pennsylvania sells raffle tickets throughout each year, culminating in the drawing of the ticket of the winner of a fully restored antique John Deere two cylinder tractor. The drawing is held at the annual Time of Harvest event at Rough and Tumble. Here are some photos of this year's drawing for a John Deere Model "MT".

Tips on viewing Photo Albums
Since our album for Day 3 of Steam School 2000, we have been using a "load ahead" feature in our photo albums.
If you use the "Next Photo" link at the top right corner of each photo, then it will pay you to continue looking at the current photo until the activity display at the bottom of your browser indicates the browser is done loading images. Then, when you click "Next Photo", it will appear almost immediately, and the browser will start loading the next sequential image. To put it simply, wait for the browser to complete loading images before clicking the "Next Photo" button.
